Juventus vs Inter Milan Predictions

  • Both teams have scored in each of Inter’s last four outings, and in five of Juventus’ last six.
  • Both teams have also found the net in four of the last six Derby d’Italia meetings.
  • While Inter have gone unbeaten in three meetings with Juventus this season, Massimiliano Allegri has never lost a domestic cup final with the Bianconeri.

Bianconeri and Nerrazzuri face off for cup glory

This year’s Coppa Italia final should be a classic, representing the first time Italy’s two biggest clubs have met at this stage since 1959. While Massimiliano Allegri’s Juventus will be going all-out for the cup after securing a top-four league finish, the Nerazzurri could win three domestic trophies this season, as they continue to chase the Scudetto having beaten the Bianconeri in January’s Supercoppa Italiana.

Inter required extra-time in that 2-1 success, but have remained unbeaten in three Derby d’Italia contests this term, earning a 1-0 league win in Turin and a 1-1 draw at San Siro. Inter are in good form after winning seven of their last eight games, losing just one of their last 14, but have seen both teams score in each of their last four, conceding six goals across those contests after overcoming Empoli in a 4-2 thriller last time out.

Juventus, meanwhile, fell to a dramatic 2-1 loss to Genoa on Friday, but have won four of their last seven games (one draw, two defeats). Juve’s defensive record, much like that of Inter, has worsened in recent weeks, with Allegri’s men seeing goals at both ends in five of their last six contests, but they will hope to draw on an incredible record in cup finals. Indeed, Juve have won five of the last seven editions of the Coppa Italia, the first four under Allegri, who has a 100 per cent record in the competition’s final.

Entertaining affair likely in Rome, with Inter rightful favourites

With Juventus possessing an incredible record in big games but Inter deservedly starting the match as slight favourites, punters are best advised to overlook the win markets and back both defences to leak goals at the Stadio Olimpico after questionable runs.

Meanwhile, a strong Juventus team performed woefully at Genoa last time out, conceding 2.7 expected goals (xG) to the worst attacking outfit in Serie A. If Inter perform at their highest level, the Nerrazzuri can extend their strong run against Juve and keep their double hopes alive with a 2-1 win.
