Juventus vs Malmo FF Predictions

  • Malmo are already eliminated, losing four of five Champions League group games, scoring just once and conceding 13 goals.
  • Juventus thrashed the newly crowned Swedish champions 3-0 away from home on matchday one, scoring all their goals before the break.
  • Juventus have beaten Malmo to nil in all three of their previous UEFA Champions League meetings.

Juve Still in Contention for Top Spot

Juventus are still in contention for top spot in Group H of the Champions League, but will need a favour from Zenit, who host Chelsea, to have any hope of securing a spot as seeds for the last 16. The Old Lady have won five of their last seven in all competitions, with four of those victories coming to nil.

Malmo could well be on the beach after securing the Swedish title on Saturday, edging out AIK on goal difference. The Swedes have lost four of their games in this group, scoring only once, and are already guaranteed to finish bottom.

Malmo are the joint-lowest scorers across the entire group stage, have accumulated the lowest expected goals tally in the competition, and conceded more expected goals than all bar two sides. With Juve needing a win in their pursuit of finishing first, I don’t expect them to take it easy on Group H’s whipping boys.

Another Clean Sheet for Bonucci and Company?

Although Juve have struggled for form in Serie A this term, their last five league games have brought four wins, all to nil, with their 1-0 loss to high-flying Atalanta the only exception. Max Allegri’s team began their European campaign with three consecutive shutouts, and have never conceded to Malmo in their three Champions League meetings, boasting a 100% winning record.

With all of that in mind, I’m confidently backing Juve to both win and keep a clean sheet in Turin on Wednesday. A repeat of their 3-0 success in Sweden, meanwhile, is a solid correct score prediction for what should be a one-sided affair.
