SC Freiburg Double Chance (Win or Draw)

Reason for tip

Freiburg have lost only one of their last eight games in all competitions and back-to-back draws with Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Monchengladbach suggest they can get a result at Juve, who lost twice at this venue in the Champions League group stages.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

Juve have only lost once at home in nine games since the World Cup break and Freiburg’s last two games have finished all square. This is likely to be a tight affair so 1-1 appeals in the correct score market.

Juventus vs SC Freiburg Predictions

  • Freiburg are unbeaten in six games in this year’s Europa League
  • There have been two or fewer goals in four of Freiburg’s last five matches
  • Freiburg have drawn their last two Europa League matches 1-1

Europa League could save Juve’s season

Winning the Europa League is Juventus’ best chance of getting into Europe next season and the Old Lady will be hoping to show their class in the first leg of their last-16 tie with Bundesliga side Freiburg.

A 15-point deduction means Juve are only eighth in Serie A and they are 12 points off the top four after last weekend’s 1-0 loss to Roma.

They had been unbeaten in seven games prior to that, winning six of those outings which included a comfortable 3-0 victory at Nantes in the playoff round of this competition.

However, the opening leg of that tie in Turin finished 1-1 and Freiburg also made light work of Nantes in the group stages, winning 2-0 at home and 4-0 away.

Freiburg can trouble the Old Lady

Freiburg sit fifth in the Bundesliga, level on points with Leipzig, and may have been underestimated for their trip to Italy.

The Breisgau Brazilians eased to top spot in Group G, taking 14 points from their six games with four wins and two draws.

Freiburg have lost only one of their last eight games in all competitions and back-to-back draws with Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Monchengladbach suggest they can be competitive against Juve.

Massimiliano Allegri’s team were beaten at home to Benfica and Paris St-Germain in the Champions League group stages and although they have lost only once in their last ten games at the Allianz Stadium, four of their seven wins have been by a single goal.

Freiburg could, therefore, be worth backing to avoid defeat and correct-score punters may want to opt for a 1-1 draw, which was the scoreline in the Bundesliga side’s final two Europa League group matches.
