Europe brings out the best in Juve

Juventus can secure their place in the Champions League knockout stages with two games to spare if they avoid defeat against Zenit St Petersburg on Tuesday.

The Old Lady have struggled domestically and are without a win in three Serie A matches since beating Zenit in Russia in the last round of fixtures (D1, L2). However, the Italian giants have been better in Europe than they have at home this term – winning all three of their matches without conceding in Group H – and they should be able to claim a fairly comfortable win on Tuesday.

Zenit have been in good form since losing to Juve a couple of weeks ago with back-to-back home wins but their away form has been poor. Zenitchiki are the Russian league leaders but they only have the fourth best away record in the division and have just one win on their travels in their last five games.

Juve have a fantastic record against Russian sides and are unbeaten in nine previous European games against teams from the country, winning eight and drawing once as well as keeping six clean sheets in the process. The Zeniters are also poor travellers in Europe and haven’t won an away game in the Champions League since 2015.  Zenit have lost eight of their nine games since their last away win in Europe’s elite competition and have scored just once in their last five trips.

As Juve are yet to concede in this competition a home win to nil stands out as the main bet here. Juve won the reverse fixture 1-0 but should enjoy more success going forward in Turin and a 2-0 win for the hosts has a chance in the correct score market.
