Celtic could be crowned champions in Kilmarnock

Celtic have one hand the Scottish Premiership trophy following their 2-1 Old Firm victory last Saturday and they can seal the deal by beating Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on Wednesday. 

The Bhoys will have to be at their best, however, as Killie have lost just one of their last 12 home games and have won the last two head-to-heads between the pair at Rugby Park. 

Kilmarnock put five past fifth-placed St Mirren in a recent home outing, highlighting their attacking prowess, and they could have enough to trouble the champions on occasion when the pair clash on Wednesday. 

End-to-end encounter expected at Rugby Park

In Killie’s 2-1 home win over the Bhoys in December, there was very little to split the two with shot counts of 13 and 16 and expected goals figures of 1.79 and 1.83 respectively, with another well-balanced yet exciting match on the cards this time around. 

Both teams have scored in six of Celtic’s last nine matches, highlighting their defensive deficiencies, and given Kilmarnock’s recent scoring exploits and solid record in this fixture, that trend should continue at Rugby Park. 

Celtic will be keen to get the job done on Wednesday and could edge the tie, but similarly could be caught on the counter by Killie as they throw men forward.
