Kilmarnock vs St Johnstone Predictions

  • Alex Dyer has won just four of his first 18 home games
  • Killie have won twice at home since the start of December
  • The visitors lost just four of 13 trips last season, drawing six

Two sides who need a win

These two sides remain winless two weeks into the new campaign. Kilmarnock continued their poor finish to last term with a draw against Ross County in midweek, having led 2-1 at one stage. The hosts have been poor since Alex Dyer arrived at the club in December, while they’re struggling to hit the heights of their 2018/19 campaign.

St Johnstone haven’t really had a chance to get started under their new boss Callum Davidson, after their match last weekend was called off. They were well beaten at Ibrox in midweek, meaning the Saints have a point from their opening two games. Can they build on that in this trip?

Hosts on dreadful run

Kilmarnock have failed to win any of their last eight games, which doesn’t bring about much hope in manager Alex Dyer. After taking over in December he has won just four of 18 matches in charge, with things getting worse of late. Their slow start to the season offers a chance to the visitors, but Killie have had problems here for a while.

Killie won only six times at home in 15 games here last season. They come into this clash with two wins since the start of December at their own ground, so we can see them having issues against a St Johnstone side who are targetting a top-half finish this term in our predictions.

Saints can claim a point

While Saints are aiming for a top six finish, they were among the top six in terms of their away record last season. The visitors lost just four of their 13 away trips last term, while only four sides had more points despite the Saints playing fewer away games than any other side.

Their good away record was d by a strong run, as they finished last season with just one defeat in seven games on the road. While they lost at Rangers this week, their opening away game of the campaign saw them claim a point at Dundee United. Given that the Saints drew almost half of their away trips last term, we’re backing another draw and our correct score prediction is for this clash to finish 1-1.
