Konyaspor vs Gent Predictions
Konyaspor’s European campaign hasn’t gone entirely to plan so far, with their only positive result in this Europa League group stage being a 1-1 draw at home to Sporting Braga back in October. Other than that they have lost all four games, conceding 10 goals and scoring just two to leave them out of the competition.
They have managed to start turning around their domestic form recently though, and following their 3-2 win at Alanyaspor on Sunday, they have now won four of their last six in all competitions.
However, they’re facing a Gent side in need of a victory on Thursday. The visitors sit 3rd in their Europa League group and need a win to stand any chance of leapfrogging Sporting Braga who are positioned a point ahead of them.
The 2nd placed side face Shakhtar Donetsk on Thursday, who top the group with a perfect record so far. Braga getting anything out of that match is unlikely, but with a superior amount of away goals in head to head results Gent need a win to overtake them.
Fortunately for the Belgians they are looking in decent shape at the moment. They could only muster a draw away to Westerlo on Saturday but they have won four and lost none of their last six outings in all competitions. This is a welcome break from their five defeats in seven games preceding that.
Kalifa Coulibaly may be leading the scoring charts for Gent so far this season, but five of his seven European goals came all the way back in Europa League qualifying. More recently it’s been Jeremy Perbet taking the plaudits, with the French striker netting three in his last five games and looking the best choice for our anytime goalscorer predictions.
This is Gent’s game to lose. Konyaspor are well off the pace at this level of competition and Gent are generally a higher quality team than them with a lot more motivation to get the three points. Backing them to win at 10/11 looks a good choice, as does a 2-0 correct score predictions at 15/2.
