Guys look good for goals

Kortrijk can get their top-flight campaign off to a sparkling start by putting a couple of goals past a Leuven defence that may not be up to the job of stopping them.

The Guys were reliable goal-getters at home in the closing weeks of last season, bagging nine times in their last four games. Karim Belhocine’s side have been in prolific form in pre-season too, hitting multiple goals in three of their four official friendlies and grabbing five in a 5-4 behind-closed-doors clash with KV Oostende last week.

That match preceded a good win over Eredivisie outfit Utrecht and leaves the hosts in good shape going into the new campaign. Leuven have added to the squad that finished a couple of places below Kortrijk in the standings last term, but still need some proven strikers to come in.

Leuven still leaking too many

They played their part in an entertaining 3-3 draw with Leicester City at the weekend in a match that was split into three periods of 40 minutes with wholesale personnel changes. That game, and other friendlies before it, suggest Marc Brys hasn’t yet solved the defensive issues that dogged Leuven last season.

They conceded at least two goals in three of their last four away league games last season and look good to do so on Saturday too. A 2-1 home win is taken in correct score betting because Leuven have a good record of scoring on the road, notching in 13 of their 17 away league trips last term.
