Owls can pounce on blundering Brann

The Owls welcome the Eliteserien’s bottom club Brann to Kristiansund Stadion on Monday as Christian Michelsen’s men look to continue their strong home form.

Kristiansund are two points behind Valerenga in third – which is the last Europa Conference League qualifying position – going into the weekend and they also have a game in hand.

The visit of basement-dwellers Brann looks pretty easy on paper as the boys from Bergen are taking less than half a point per game on average and have mustered only one from six road trips so far.

Kristiansund are coming off a disappointing run of three results that began with a 3-0 loss at Haugesund and continued through draws against 14th-placed Mjøndalen and at 13th-placed Tromso.

Prior to that they had won five straight so there may be a streaky element to this side that would be slightly off-putting if they weren’t now up against Brann.

Kare Ingebrigtsen’s side have conceded a league-worst tally of 22 goals as the manager attempts to settle on his first-choice defensive pairing and starting goalkeeper.

Hakon Opdal was axed after several early-season blunders and his replacement in goal – Eirik Holmen Johansen – has acquitted himself well in the last four games.

If they can cut out the errors, Brann could cause an upset soon, but we don’t think they can trouble an Owls defence that has kept three clean sheets in their last four on home turf.

We’d rather take the hosts to win a low-scoring contest 1-0 on Monday – a scoreline they have settle on twice before at home in 2021.
