LA Galaxy vs San Jose Earthquakes Predictions
LA Galaxy kicked the new season off with an elimination from the CONCACAF Champions League, but once the MLS season began they found their feet again. Unfortunately for them they tailed off towards the end of last season and ended in a disappointing 5th position in the MLS Western Conference. They will be hoping to avoid such a drop off this term.
The beginning of the season has certainly been impressive from their point of view. They come into this match unbeaten in their last eight outings and with just one defeat to their name all season. The five wins they have picked up have helped them to a 4th place standing in the Western Conference, five points adrift of the top spot, but they have at least two games in hand over all three of the teams above them.
The key to their success so far has been some incredible attacking play. They have netted 24 goals in their ten games so far, including four separate four goal hauls. Most of this attacking success has come at the Stubhub Center, where they have scored 17 times in five matches.
San Jose Earthquakes sit just below LA Galaxy in the Western Conference table, one point worse off than their opponents and having played a game more than them.
They won’t necessarily be easy to beat though. They have won four of their last seven outings and scored five times in their last two games, including a friendly game against Real Sociedad.
Away from home things have been a little trickier though. They are winless on the road this season having lost three and drawn two of their five away days, and what will strike fear into their hearts is the fact that they are coming up against a lethal attacking force and have shipped 11 goals away from home already this season, including a 3-1 defeat to LA Galaxy in March.
I think we can expect goals from both sides in this match. LA Galaxy may have an exceptional attacking record but they have conceded in every home match this season. San Jose Earthquakes have only failed to score in one of their away days so far too. LA Galaxy have also seen at least three goals netted in all but one of their home games, so odds of 1/1 for Over 2.5 Goals and Both Teams to Score look very attractive. I’m going for a 4-1 win for the hosts at huge odds of 20/1 as well.
