Latvia vs Netherlands Predictions

  • Netherlands have won four of their last five qualifiers (D1), keeping clean sheets in three of those games.
  • The Dutch have won all four of their previous meetings against Latvia without conceding, including March’s 2-0 success in Amsterdam.
  • Latvia have conceded just ten goals overall despite just one win from their six qualifiers (D2, L3).
  • The hosts have failed to score in three of their Group G outings thus far.

Routine night ahead for the Dutch in Riga

Netherlands have won all four of their previous meetings with Latvia without conceding a goal and we’re expecting that trend to continue when the Dutch head to Riga this Friday night.

Anything other than a Netherlands victory would be a huge shock on Matchday 7, though the match betting won’t exactly appeal to the majority of punters with Louis van Gaal’s men around 1/11 to bag the three points they need to remain atop Group G.

Those odds mean there’s also zero value in siding with the Dutch to cover a significant handicap, an outcome that’s unfancied regardless with Latvia conceding just ten goals across their six qualifiers, despite only claiming one win and two draws.

The Latvians also limited the Dutch to a 2-0 score-line in March’s reverse fixture in Amsterdam, though that did mark Netherlands’ fourth straight win and clean sheet in the head to head. It was also one of three shut-outs maintained by van Gaal’s men in this qualifying campaign, and one of three occasions on which Latvia have failed to hit the net.

This is a really sticky game for backers in terms of finding a profitable, worthwhile wager, but a Netherlands win to nil is our call despite the value on offer being thin.

The general 4/6 on offer is fair based on these sides’ past encounters and Group G starts to date, and we’re also tipping up another straightforward 2-0 triumph for the Dutch in the correct score market.
