Leeds vs Brentford Predictions

Brentford made a brighter start to the season than Leeds but as time has worn on, it is the Yorkshire club that have looked the more likely play-off contenders and Elland Road is slowly turning into something of a fortress again, which it hasn’t been for a long period of time.

Gary Monk’s side look a solid all-round unit and have been defending very well particularly at home. They’ve conceded just 0.82 goals per game at Elland Road and only 4 sides in the Championship have a better defensive record than them. They’ve won 6 of their last 8 home games in the league so confidence is high right now and they’re strong favourites to make that 7 in 9 here. Leeds don’t create bucket loads of chances but when they do, they regularly put them away with Chris Wood up front. The Kiwi has been one of the most consistent strikers in the division this term, with 11 goals to his name. Having scored in 4 of Leeds’ last 5 home matches, backing Chris Wood to score anytime at 6/5 looks to offer value here, although he will need to pass a fitness test on a hamstring concern.

Inconsistent Brentford aren’t great travellers on the whole, although they do from time to time put in a performance of real quality so Leeds will have to be wary. The Londoners have lost 55% of their Championship away games this season but did pick up a much needed away win in midweek at Bristol City.

Not since September though, when they hosted Reading have they beaten a side in decent form, and they may struggle to cope with a confident Leeds outfit here. They’ve let in 1.64 goals per game on their travels this term which suggests the hosts will get chances in this one and Leeds have been defending well enough to suggest they will cope with the threat posed by a Brentford side that are very reliant on Scott Hogan for goals.

Therefore, backing Leeds to win at Evens looks to offer good value and it would see them head into the festive period in a strong position to mount a genuine promotion push.
