Leeds vs Brighton Predictions
The side from the South Coast haven’t quite been as convincing in recent weeks. Having won 6 of their opening 7 matches, they’d opened up a bit of a gap at the top of the table but 3 consecutive draws have seen Middlesbrough get to within 2 points of them.
Leeds also haven’t been as solid over the past few games. They were unbeaten in their first 6 matches, although with 5 draws it was hardly spectacular. Since then though they’ve lost 3 of their last 4 fixtures with defeats coming against Middlesbrough, Birmingham and Ipswich. Two of those losses were at Elland Road, where they haven’t won yet this season and they failed to score in all to those three recent defeats.
Brighton’s success has been built more on strong defence than blistering attacking play. Their goalscoring record of 14 is only the joint 9th best in the league but with only 8 goals conceded in 10 games they’ll fancy their chances of shutting out a Leeds side that has scored only 3 home goals in 5 outings this season.
There have been under 2.5 goals in all the Championship matches at Elland Road so far and you can’t really see an out-of-form Leeds side suddenly developing a cavalier attacking philosophy against the league leaders. This is likely to be a cautious affair as both managers will know 1 goal might settle it and there looks to be value at 8/13 in backing there to be under 2.5 goals in this one.
Brighton are the more likely winners but you sense their early season purple patch is slowly drawing to an end and they may find it tough to hold on to top spot for much longer. They should be able to continue their unbeaten record here with Leeds so poor on home soil but a 4th consecutive draw is perhaps the most likely outcome for Albion and it could well end goalless and you can back that to be the case at 7/1.
