      Leeds vs Middlesbrough Predictions

Although Boro are more commonly viewed as a North-East club this is technically a Yorkshire derby and the pair have shared plenty of feisty encounters over the years. Both teams are enjoying something of a resurgence right now and have plenty left to play for this season.

16th place is perhaps a little bit of an unfair reflection on some of the progress Leeds have made this year but they are still in the FA Cup and are unlikely to be dragged back into the relegation scrap.

They suffered a disappointing 1-0 defeat at home to Nottingham Forest last time out but were unbeaten in 6 home matches prior to that, winning 4 of them. They may also feel as though they’ve got Middlesbrough at a good time with the Teessiders struggling a little at the moment.

They moved back to the top of the division in midweek with a 1-1 draw at lowly MK Dons but haven’t won any of their last 4 matches in the league to dent what at one point looked like it could be a title procession. 3 of those games were against sides currently in the bottom 7 so there is plenty of hope for Leeds here and with home advantage they look good value at 5/6 to get a result.

12 of the last 13 league games involving Boro have had 2 or fewer goals and it is obvious there problems lie at the top end rather than the back where they are very solid. Leeds are also a team that doesn’t score many goals and they average just under 1 per game in the league this term which helps explain where they are right now.

They a tougher side to beat now though and are certainly capable of grinding out a low scoring draw here so consider backing this to finish 1-1 at 11/2.
