Leganes chase survival

Saturday’s clash between relegation-threatened Leganes and Valladolid at Estadio Municipal de Butarque should see both teams score.

Leganes are 18th with eight wins and 16 defeats. They must win and hope that Espanyol fail to beat Las Palmas if they’re to secure La Liga survival.

Bottom side Valladolid, meanwhile, have four wins and 29 losses. There is a 21-point gap between the two sides, with Leganes two places above rock-bottom Valladolid.

Leganes beat Espanyol 3-2 two weeks ago in their last home league game and followed up with a 1-0 win against Las Palmas last weekend. Valladolid’s relegation has long since been confirmed, with 18 defeats in their last 20 Primera Liga games.

However, both teams have found the net in five of Leganes’ last seven home league games and in 12 of Valladolid’s 18 away games, and the hosts’ urgent need for three points could force them to take more risks than usual.

Leganes have failed to keep a clean sheet in nine of their last 11 league games and have conceded 56 goals this season, while Valladolid have yet to keep a clean sheet away from home.

A 2-1 home win is the correct-score pick. Valladolid have lost their last 13 Primera Liga away games and Leganes have won twice of their last three by the odd goal.
