Leicester City to Win

Reason for tip

Vitor Pereira has a monumental task on his hand at Wolves and a winning start looks unlikely, with Leicester unbeaten in their six Premier League home matches against Wanderers. The Foxes have won four of those games, including each of the last three, and look set to inflict a fifth straight defeat upon their relegation rivals.

Leicester City 2-1

Reason for tip

Both teams have scored in seven of Leicester’s eight Premier League home matches this season and they shipped four against Newcastle last time, suggesting a clean sheet is unlikely for the hosts. Back Wolves, who have seen both teams score in seven of their last eight away games, to net in defeat.

Jamie Vardy To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Jamie Vardy is proving that age is just a number, with the 37-year-old having six Premier League goals to his name this season. The evergreen forward has netted three in his last four matches in the King Power as well as three in his last five appearances against Wolves, making him the standout scorer pick for Sunday’s six-pointer.

Leicester City vs Wolverhampton Predictions

  • Leicester are unbeaten in six Premier League meetings with Wolves at the King Power, winning  each of the last three
  • Wolves have lost four matches on the spin, conceding 12 goals in that miserable run
  • The Foxes have lost just three of their eight Premier League home matches, beating Bournemouth and West Ham and drawing with Tottenham and Brighton

Pereira’s party set to be spoiled

Gary O’Neil was beginning to resemble a cat with nine lives at Wolves but his time at the helm finally came to an end following Wanderers’ 2-1 loss to fellow strugglers Ipswich last Saturday.

The Tractor Boys’ winner came in the 94th minute and from a corner, highlighting two major issues which O’Neil failed to fix in his spell at Molineux, and also marked Wolves’ fourth defeat on the bounce.

The previous pair of those losses came against a pair of other struggling sides in Everton and West Ham, so it was no surprise to see the Englishman handed his marching orders.

That form is a real worry and it is hard to have much faith in new manager Vitor Pereira steadying the ship immediately, with a trip to relegation rivals Leicester far from an easy first task for the Portuguese.

Foxes fancied to prevail in six-pointer

Wolves have a miserable record at the King Power, failing to win any of their previous Premier League visits in a run which includes four defeats, and it is difficult to see Pereira as the man to buck that trend.

The Portuguese manager has never managed in one of Europe’s top five leagues, doing the majority of his work in Portugal and Brazil, and he may not have the knowhow to turn things around at Wolves so quickly.

Wanderers’ 40 goals conceded means entered this weekend with the worst defensive record in Europe’s top five leagues and a Leicester side who have put a combined five past West Ham and Brighton in their two home matches under Ruud van Nistelrooy look set to overpower their visitors on Sunday.

King Power primed for a thriller

A 4-0 thrashing at Newcastle last Saturday was a step backwards for the Foxes and Van Nistelrooy but the Magpies are chasing a top-six finish and Leicester were without their entire first-choice midfield trio on Tyneside.

However, Boubakary Soumare is back for Sunday and Harry Winks may also be available, spelling trouble for Wolves.

Wanderers have shipped 12 goals during their four-match losing streak and they must also do without one of their key creators, Rayan Ait-Nouri, for their trip to the King Power, suggesting the hosts are the likelier to prevail in this six-pointer.

Goals look to be on the agenda given both teams have scored in seven of Wolves’ last eight away matches and in seven of Leicester’s eight Premier League home games this season, making a 2-1 win for the Foxes the standout correct-score selection.
