Lens to Win

Reason for tip

Lens are a tough nut to crack on their own patch, having gone seven games unbeaten at home in all competitions, and they can secure third spot in their Champions League group by beating Sevilla.

Lens 2-0

Reason for tip

Sevilla have lost three of their last four away games and are unlikely to cause too many problems for Lens, who are worth a bet to win this 2-0.

Lens vs Sevilla Predictions

  • Lens are unbeaten in their last seven home games in all competitions, winning five
  • Lens have kept five clean sheets in their last eight matches
  • Sevilla have lost three of their last four away games

Lens in driving seat for third spot

Qualification for the Champions League knockout stages is not possible for Lens or Sevilla but Tuesday’s showdown in Group B will determine which side finishes third and drops into the Europa League.

It is Lens who are in the driving seat with five points from five games, leaving them three ahead of their La Liga counterparts.

The Blood and Gold must simply avoid defeat against Sevilla on the final matchday and they can go one better and win at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis.

Lens were humiliated in a 6-0 drubbing by Arsenal in their last Champions League fixture in November but they are a stronger side on their own patch, having not lost any of their last seven home fixtures in all competitions.

That run even included a win over the Gunners and Franck Haise’s men have found form in Ligue 1 after a rocky start to the campaign and they now occupy a top-five berth.

Sevilla’s away struggles set to continue

A home win is the way to go against travel-sick Sevilla, who have lost three of their last four aways.

Their only wins on the road this term came against lower-league opposition in the Copa del Rey and they could struggle in this one.

As for a correct score pick, Lens are pretty resolute at the back, having shut out Lorient, Marseille, Clermont Foot and Montpellier since the start of November, so a 2-0 win for the home side could be the way to go.
