Leyton Orient vs QPR Predictions

  • QPR were held to a draw at home by Millwall at the weekend.
  • Leyton Orient reached the third round last year, but had to forfeit tie with Spurs.
  • QPR may opt to rotate with three league games in seven days on the horizon.

Orient a threat for QPR

Leyton Orient and QPR are both looking for their first wins of the new season ahead of Wednesday’s Carabao Cup meeting between the two London clubs at Brisbane Road.

Orient kicked off their campaign with a 1-1 draw at a Salford outfit who are heavily fancied to challenge for the League Two title, while QPR fought back from a goal down to secure a 1-1 draw with Milwall at home in the Championship.

The Rs will have been disappointed by that point against the Lions as they look a team capable of mounting a serious promotion bid this season.  Manager Mark Warburton may decide to shuffle his pack for this midweek trip to Orient, and we feel there is a chance of an upset in this cup tie.

The O’s had a mixed record at home last season with 34 points from 23 games, but they were only beaten seven times and two of those losses came at the end of the campaign when they were locked in for a mid-table finish.  The hosts may also feel they have a point to prove in the Carabao Cup after securing a third round tie with Tottenham last season but then being forced to forfeit the match due to a coronavirus outbreak within the squad.

QPR, who fell at the first hurdle in this competition last season, have three Championship games in the space of seven days after this clash and the league will be their priority this term.  As such, we’re not expecting a full strength starting XI from the Championship club and with home advantage a Leyton Orient or draw result in the double chance market stands out here, while a 1-1 result has some appeal in the correct score market given both sides played out draws by that scoreline over the weekend.
