Liechtenstein vs Germany Predictions

  • Liechtenstein have shipped 21 goals in their last four games, which have included 5-0 and 7-0 defeats to North Macedonia and Switzerland respectively.
  • Germany’s shock defeat to North Macedonia in March means Die Mannschaft should be looking to significantly bolster their goal difference in this Thursday.
  • The German squad will also be seeking to impress new boss Hansi Flick who takes charge for the first time.

It’s essentially a question of ‘how many?’ for Germany in St. Gallen this Thursday night as new boss Hansi Flick takes charge for the first time, and we’re backing Die Mannschaft to cover at least a four goal handicap against neighbouring minnows Liechtenstein.

Flick couldn’t have asked for an easier start to his tenure and this week’s tie undoubtedly marks the start of a new era for Germany following the largely successful 15 year reign of Joachim Loew.

Plenty of players will be seeking to impress Flick to cement their place in the side, and that, coupled with Germany’s need to bolster their goal average following their shock qualifying defeat to North Macedonia, should see the visitors go to town at Kybunpark.

Germany stuck seven past Latvia just prior to Euro 2020 and we can perhaps expect a similar tally here against comparable opposition.

Liechtenstein are as hapless as their FIFA Ranking of 182nd suggests and they’ve shipped 21 goals in their last four outings. That spell included 7-0 and 5-0 hammerings against Switzerland and North Macedonia respectively, and we can expect Germany to dish out similar punishment.

Coverage of a four goal handicap may well prove to be a tad conservative, but the 8/11 is rewarding enough for what looks a near certainty. There’s always a risk that superior sides can take pity on beaten opposition at around 5-0 up which is why we’re inclined to play safe, though we are opting for Germany to bag seven in the correct score market.
