Liechtenstein vs Macedonia Predictions

Macedonia have been in great form so far in Group 4 and currently sit on top of the table but are fresh off of a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Armenia, so will they be able to balance themselves out for this massive game?

Macedonia have been far-and-away the best team in the group with dominating wins over Gibraltar, Armenia and their opponents in this one, Liechtenstein. They scored eight goals in these three games and the likes of Stevan Spirovski and Kire Ristevski really stood out but also Stole Dimitrievski who conceded just one goal in this time and Ezgjan Aliosk who scored three from left-midfield.

Macedonia must have been still celebrating the Liechtenstein victory in their last game though as they were brought back down to earth at the hands of Armenia who thumped them 4-0. Macedonia had already beaten the Havaqakans 2-0 earlier in the competition so probably went into this match with a bit of complacency, which really came back to bite them as they hardly laid a glove on Armenia. Henrikh Mkhitaryan had a hand in three of the four goals and was the talisman in this strong Armenia performance.

The Macedonians will have to bounce back here but have already beaten Liechtenstein 4-1 so should be confident of another victory here.

Liechtenstein have lost three of their four Nations League matches and currently sit fourth in their group in what has been a pretty underwhelming set of performances so far. Their solitary win came over Gibraltar at home, with Sandro Wieser heading in his second international goal after Dennis Salanovic’s long-range effort opened the scoring. This was a rare comfortable performance from them as they came back to lose the reverse fixture in Gibraltar 2-1.

Liechtenstein should take some solace, with them scoring in every match this season as the two aforementioned players plus Sandro Wolfinger have been on target, but it just doesn’t make good reading for Liechtensteiners with them in such poor form and now facing the best team in the group.

Macedonia showed their weakness by getting thrashed in the last game though and Liechtenstein should be eyeing up another upset against them. Liechtenstein do have some good players like Verona’s Marcel Büchel and Chicago’s Nicolas Hasler, but everyone will have to be on their A game for the win here.

Unfortunately for Liechtenstein, we just think the Macedonians should have too much quality for them and should be getting the win here. Macedonia have only lost one game this year and even though it was their most recent one, Liechtenstein haven’t beat Macedonia in any of their last five attempts, conceding 16 and scoring just three in this time. Liechtenstein should get a goal in this one as they have in every Nations League match so far, especially after Armenia showed last month how weak Macedonia can be at the back. This game finished 4-1 last month in Macedonia but we’re going to predict a slightly better result for Liechtenstein this time round with them losing 2-1.
