Lillestrom vs Stabaek Predictions & Betting Tips, Match Previews

Lillestrom started the new campaign nicely as they looked to improve on their mid-table position in the Norway Eliteserien last season. They began the league season with just one defeat in their first eight games, three of which ended in victory.

However, their form has taken a nosedive recently, starting with them being knocked out of the Norwegian Cup by Sandefjord, which led to them losing five of their last seven matches and winning just once.

This has inevitably seen their position in the Eliteserien table to fall, and they come into this match in 10th position with just 17 points from their opening 14 matches. This leaves them six points above the relegation playoff position but five points off their 8th place finishing position from last year.

Stabaek are having an all together more disastrous season than their opponents. They finished in 3rd position last season, and although they were some 13 points behind champions Rosenborg in the end it was still a decent result. Now, they find themselves in the relegation zone with just 10 points from their first 14 matches.

They are four points above bottom of the table Start, but two points separates them from safety and they need to turn it around quickly to avoid a relegation battle come the end of the season.

Stabaek’s form hasn’t shown any signs of a resurgence lately either. They were shockingly knocked out of the Europa League 1st Qualifying Round by Connah’s Quay after a 1-0 aggregate scoreline, and those results make it five defeats, one win, and one draw in their last seven games in all competitions. Their sole victory came against bottom of the table Start too.

Lillestrom may be in poor form, but they have won three of their last six home matches and are facing a Stabaek side horribly low on confidence. My prediction is for the hosts to get a result on Sunday, so I’m backing a Lillestrom Win at 21/20 along with a 2-1 correct score prediction at 15/2.
