Liverpool vs PSG Predictions
- PSG hold a 2-0 lead from the first leg
- Liverpool failed to register a shot on target in Paris last week
- PSG are unbeaten against Premier League opposition this season (W4, D2)
Liverpool facing European exit
Liverpool host Paris Saint-Germain in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie on Tuesday with a two-goal deficit to recover after defeat in the French capital last week.
The Anfield side have staged some outrageous European comebacks over the years but aside from that history it is hard to make any kind of case for them to fight back against PSG.
The French giants have at times underwhelmed in their European defence this season but they were sublime in the first leg against the Reds and in truth are unfortunate only to have a two-goal lead to defend.
PSG can finish the tie with a win
PSG are the slight favourites to win on Tuesday and their first leg performance suggests they can finish this tie off in style with a win on Merseyside.
Luis Enrique’s men controlled the game throughout last week as they created 18 shots in total with six on target, restricting Liverpool to just three attempts – none of which tested Matvey Safonov in the PSG goal.
PSG have a fantastic record against Premier League opposition this season with four wins and no defeats in six games, including a UEFA Super Cup success against Spurs on penalties, they also won at Anfield on their way to winning the Champions League last season and they can pick up another victory at this ground on Tuesday.
PSG could go one better
PSG won the first leg 2-0 and they may be able to improve on that on Tuesday, with a 3-0 win for the visitors having a chance in the correct score market.
It was a case of damage limitation for Liverpool at times last week but they don’t have that luxury at Anfield and have to push men forward. That should open up plenty of space for PSG to exploit and as they have scored at least three goals in four of their last five games – including eight goals across two legs against Chelsea in the previous round – they could put together a big aggregate win.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia was on target for PSG in the first leg to make it four consecutive Champions League games in which he has scored, hitting five goals in total across that period. The Georgian looks the standout bet for an anytime effort at Anfield.
