Liverpool can put the pressure on City

Liverpool kept their dreams of an unprecedented quadruple alive before the international break with a slender FA Cup win over Nottingham Forest and they can take top spot in the Premier League – however briefly – with victory over the struggling Watford on Saturday.

Jurgen Klopp’s Reds have been on an absolute rampage since the turn of the year, losing just one of their 19 competitive games and winning 15 of them, including the nine successive Premier League triumphs that has slashed the gap at the top of the table to just a single point.

Watford face toughest test of the season

Watford, by contrast, find themselves three points adrift of safety and with the teams directly above and below them holding two games in hand. They beat Southampton in their last outing but have won just two of their last 18 in all competitions, losing 13 times.

With both of these victories coming on the road, the Hornets actually perform better away from home but a recent 4-0 demolition at the hands of Wolves illustrates their shortcomings. A trip to Anfield is the toughest test they will have faced this season, and will be followed swiftly by trips to the Etihad and Stamford Bridge before the season is out.

Rampant Reds win expected

I fully expect a comprehensive Liverpool victory on Saturday. They have won six of their last seven league games without conceding and have won to nil in five of their last six meetings with Watford. With the visitors averaging just a goal per game this season, backing Liverpool to win to nil is my preference.

I’m also going for a rampant 5-0 correct score prediction. Watford have conceded 11 goals in their last three defeats and three of their last six meetings with Liverpool have resulted in a 5-0 drubbing.
