Liverpool vs West Ham Betting Tips

Liverpool may have reached the Capital One Cup Final in midweek, but a 1-0 loss at home to Stoke and being taken to penalties is probably not the route Jurgen Klopp wanted to take.

The home side’s dismal performance was a stark contrast to the 5-4 thriller against Norwich on Saturday that is being touted as the best game of the season, and it just goes to show how inconsistent this frustrating Liverpool side can be.

Liverpool have won two, lost two, and draw one of their last five matches in all competitions, and even a seemingly easy fixture against Exeter City in the FA Cup 3^rd Round had to be taken to a replay.

But thanks to other teams’ underperformance Liverpool still have a chance of getting into Europe next season. They sit in 7^th position with three points between them and 5^th placed Manchester United and seven between them and Spurs in 4^th.

I think a cup double would be satisfactory for Klopp’s first partial season in charge of Liverpool though, and he will know the importance of this competition.

West Ham are no strangers to the FA Cup though, with the one that always sticks in the memory being their heartbreaking FA Cup Final defeat to Liverpool a decade ago.

But West Ham have already beaten Liverpool at Anfield this season, and they come into this match having won four of their last six matches in all competitions and managed a 2-2 draw with Manchester City last weekend.

It wasn’t a weakened side that Klopp put out in the Capital One Cup semi final in midweek, and the extra time and stress of penalties will have taken it’s toll on the players. There is a good chance that there will be some squad rotation implemented, either that or there will be some very tired players in red shirts.

This gives West Ham an excellent chance of getting another result, and I think odds of 5/6 for a West Ham Win or Draw Double Chance are really good value. I’m going for a 1-1 draw at 11/2 as well.
