Draw 2-2

Reason for tip

Another 2-2 draw could be on the cards with Livi showing that they can score goals at home by smashing eight in two recent League Cup fixtures. Falkirk also look like a side that can break their opponents down effectively.

Thrilling stalemate on the cards in Livi

Livingston and Falkirk both opened their Scottish Premiership campaigns with entertaining 2-2 draws, and they’ll be hoping to build on that momentum when they meet at the Tony Macaroni Arena on Saturday.

David Martindale’s men came from two goals down to earn a point at Kilmarnock with Scott Pittman grabbing a late equaliser, but defensive gaps were evident early on.

Falkirk let a lead slip against Dundee United in a game they were tipped to win. John McGlynn’s men have now gone seven games without beating Livingston, but they’ve shown enough attacking intent to suggest they’ll be competitive.

Familiar foes with fresh ambition

Both clubs were promoted last season—Falkirk as champions and Livingston via the play-offs—and both have recruited smartly. Livi added top-flight experience with the likes of Stevie May and Adam Montgomery, while Falkirk brought in proven scorers like Brian Graham and midfield dynamo Scott Arfield.

Livingston’s new artificial pitch could play a role, with Martindale calling it “night and day” compared to the old surface. It may suit their high-tempo style, but Falkirk’s midfield control and pressing game could nullify any advantage.

Both teams love to attack and aren’t watertight at the back. With creative threats like Pittman, Muirhead, Arfield, and Ross on display, goals are likely—but so is a stalemate. A high-scoring draw—perhaps 2-2 again—could be on the cards as both sides continue to find their feet in the Premiership.
