Londrina vs Sampaio Correa Predictions
Sunday’s Brazilian Serie B action sees Londrina playing host to Sampaio Correa. Both sides have made slow starts to the season but Londrina will be looking to make full use of home advantage in order to claim the three points.
After missing out on promotion by just two points last season, it would have taken a brave man to back Londrina to struggle so heavily in the early stages of the new campaign, but Tubarão have made a very slow start, currently standing 2 points and 2 places above the drop zone after taking just 15 points from 12 matches.
A 1-0 win at the previously unbeaten Sao Bento last time out has confidence boosted in Londrina ranks, but wasn’t enough to save under-fire boss Marquinhos Santos, who was replaced by Sergio Soares in mid-week. Soares will step into the dugout for the first time in this clash and will be desperate to improve upon a solid, if unspectacular home record that reads 4 wins from the last 8 matches.
Meanwhile, after returning to Serie B following a brief one season stint in the third tier, Sampaio Correa are hardly pulling up any trees themselves, a point and place below Londrina in the current standings.
Nonetheless, the visitors have no greater expectations than merely avoiding the drop come the end of the year and thus, their fairly mediocre results are not quite as concerning as Londrina’s. What is a big concern, however, especially coming into this clash is the side’s simply terrible away record, having lost 4 of their 5 games contested so far on enemy territory in Serie B.
Such a lack of resolve away from home is what’s likely to keep Sampaio Correa in a relegation battle all year long and certainly has them looking up against it in this particular fixture.
As such, we’re more than happy to back a Londrina win. They are a better team than their early results show and typically a strong home outfit, they should be able to pick up the points against a team which they are stronger than on paper.
Home advantage and the bounce of a new manager gives us plenty of confidence in Londrina getting the job done and there’s no evidence whatsoever that supports backing Sampaio Correa in any way, shape or form away from their own patch. All things considered, a 2-1 home victory looks to be on the cards and is a scoreline worth backing in addition to our main tip.
