Lorient vs Gazelec Ajaccio Betting Tips & Predictions

Lorient are safe from relegation, but only down to other teams’ failures. Their own form has been nothing short of atrocious, and they come into the final game of the season having won just one of their last ten in all competitions and with six defeats under their belts in that period. They have lost four in a row now as well, including an elimination from the Coupe de France.

This puts them with a disappointing tally of 43 points, coincidentally exactly the same total they managed to achieve last term. If they can get a point or more on Saturday they can officially say that they have improved, although judging by their recent form I’m not sure how many will believe it.

Gazelec Ajaccio came into Ligue 1 in August having been surprisingly promoted from the second flight, and nobody gave them a chance. They are complete minnows as a football club and were expected to languish at the bottom of the table all season. They have proved a lot of people wrong with their fighting spirit though, and they still find themselves with a chance of avoiding relegation.

They are level on points with 17th placed Toulouse but lag behind them on goal difference. All they need to do is outdo their relegation rivals in the final game of the season and they will be safe, and Toulouse are facing a fairly difficult trip to Angers for their final outing.

The visitors have lost three of their last five Ligue 1 matches though, and away from home they haven’t won any of their last six attempts in all competitions. Three of those have been draws though, and the two of the three defeats came against the likes of Lyon and Nice.

Gazelec Ajaccio do have one thing in their favour though: Desperation. They absolutely need a result on Saturday if they want to stay in Ligue 1, and they are facing a Lorient side who are both out of form and have nothing whatsoever to play for.
