Luton to Win and Over 2.5 Match Goals

      Reason for tip

Luton should be able to get the better of a Forest Green Rovers side who have only won two of their last seven games in all competitions. The away team’s last four games have produced 18 goals so this is fancied to go over 2.5 goals.

      Luton 3-0

      Reason for tip

Both teams to score has failed to land in five of Luton’s last seven home games and they should make the two-division difference between this pair clear in this game. The Hatters are fancied to win 3-0 for correct score purposes.

Luton vs Forest Green Rovers Predictions

      • Jack Wilshere has won two of his three games as Luton manager
      • Forest Green Rovers have only won two of their last seven games
      • Forest Green Rovers’ last four games have produced 18 goals

      Hatters can demonstrate class edge

The first round of the FA Cup kicks off on Friday night with League One side Luton hosting non-league outfit Forest Green.

Jack Wilshere has not had much time to get used to senior management but has already taken charge of three games for the Hatters, with a pair of wins over Northampton and Brighton Under-21s following an opening defeat to Mansfield.

There will be another familiar face in the Forest Green dugout, with Robbie Savage currently steering Rovers to fifth place in the National League.

While the early rounds of the FA Cup can be ripe for an upset, one looks unlikely here. After a decent start to the season, FGR have struggled recently, winning just two of their last seven games.

They have suffered disheartening defeats to promotion rivals Rochdale and Carlisle and were beaten on penalties by Leicester Under-21s in the National League Cup.

That does not inspire confidence in the build up to playing a side who were in the Premier League 18 months ago.

Luton may have fallen some way in that time but they are firmly in the League One promotion race and should show their class edge. Forest Green’s last four games have produced 18 games so this one is fancied to go over 2.5 goals.

Both teams to score has failed to land in five of Luton’s seven home games this term so a 3-0 home win is the correct score pick.
