Lyon can overcome Lens

Lyon look the best bet when they host Lens on Sunday, with Paulo Fonseca’s side having won their last four Ligue 1 games at Groupama Stadium.

They are two places above Lens in the table, but there is a nine-point gap between the teams. Lyon, in sixth place, have won 16 of their 31 games this season, while Lens have 13 wins and are eighth.

Lyon kept up their recent winning trend with a 4-1 victory over mid-table Rennes at home last weekend. Lyon had the game put to bed by half time and were priced at 7/10 to win the game, which they comfortably obliged for favourite backers. The win makes it 13 wins in the 16 matches in which Lyon have been odds-on this season.

It would be no surprise to see Lyon score, having found the net in 13 consecutive games and they have scored two or more goals in 19 of their 31 league matches this season.

The home side are hitting their stride. Lyon have won six of their last eight Ligue 1 matches.

Lyon have been solid favourites on their own patch, winning seven of the last eight Ligue 1 home games in which they were odds-on. They have won their last four in this situation.

Lens have been in patchy form recently, with three wins and three defeats in their last six Ligue 1 games. Their biggest-priced win in that run was when they beat Brest 3-1 at odds of 2/1, but it also included a heavy 4-0 loss to Auxerre.

The visitors have looked vulnerable in defence, with Lens failing to keep a clean sheet in four of their last five Ligue 1 games. It is three games since they last recorded a shutout.

No Ligue 1 team has had fewer BTTS games than Lens this term, and Lyon have won two of their last three league matches by at least a two-goal margin. A 2-0 home win looks a decent correct-score option.
