Maccabi Haifa vs PSG Predictions
- PSG have not tasted defeat since March.
- The visitors are on a run of five consecutive wins by three or more goals.
- The hosts lost ‘to-nil’ on each of their three home outings during their last UCL group stage appearance in 2009.
Maccabi Haifa punching above their weight
Despite their dominant form in the Israli top flight, it would appear they’re just not up to the level required to consistently compete in the Champions League. This is their first appearance in the group stages of this competition since 2009 and back then, they lost all of their three home matches without scoring a single goal. They were defeated by Benfica on match day one and PSG will provide an even tougher test.
The visitors are absolutely flying and look imperious under Christophe Galtier. They haven’t suffered a defeat since way back in March which is an incredible feat. What’s impressive is how dominant they are on their travels having scored at least three times across all of their previous eight road games. They emerged victorious against Juventus at home on match day one and they will be incredibly disappointed if they leave here with anything but a strong victory.
Visitors to run riot
PSG boast an embarrassment of talent and it is hard to give the hosts a chance in this one. Under Christophe Galtier, the visitors are efficient and are a cohesive unit. Yes any one of their players can decide a game on their own but we expect them to put in a commanding performance here and cover a -2.5 handicap.
