Malmo FF to Win

Reason for tip

Malmo FF have won eight of their last 11 home games while Rangers have won only one of their last six away games. Malmo also beat Rangers when they last played in Sweden three years ago.

Malmo FF 3-1

Reason for tip

Rangers have failed to score more than once away from home in all four of their road trips this season. One goal may be about the most they manage against a team that has kept four straight clean sheets in domestic competition. Malmo are also scoring plenty of goals at home with back-to-back 4-0 wins coming into this. so a 3-1 score might be about right.

Malmo FF vs Rangers Predictions

  • Rangers have won only one of their last six away games
  • Rangers have failed to score more than once away from home in all four of their road trips this season

Malmo can make Rangers’ night a miserable one

Malmo have more than enough maturity in their ranks to see off a depleted Rangers side in the Europa League on Thursday evening.

The Swedish champions have experience right through the core of their side with 38-year-old keeper Johan Dahlin part of the side that beat the Light Blues in Champions League qualifying three years ago. Former Leeds and Brentford star Pontus Jansson anchors the back four and sparky attacking midfielder Anders Christiansen is arguably in the form of his life.

Christiansen scored two special goals as the Swedish champions swept aside BK Hacken 4-0 at Eleda Stadion on Sunday afternoon. The Dane has now scored five goals in his last six games for Malmo, who Rangers are probably catching at the wrong time.

Gers struggling to score on the road

Henrik Rydström’s side have won eight of their last 11 home games and have not conceded a goal in any of their four games in September.  Rangers, meanwhile, have struggled to get goals on the road and could not even score against rock-bottom Hearts.

Phillipe Clement’s men are also paying the price for their Champions League elimination at the hands of Dinamo Kyiv last month as both of their senior left-backs are out of this game – Jefte through the suspension he picked up in that game and Ridvan Yilmaz through and injury he sustained in the same game.

Dujon Sterling could be pressed into action there – a position the natural right-back has filled in at before, but with Danilo and Rabbi Matondo not even included in the Europa League squad, Clement’s options are limited. Back Malmo to take the points in Sweden with a 3-1 score possible if Rangers are able to exploit Malmo’s lack of pace in defence.
