Malta vs Sweden Predictions

Malta lost 1-0 away at Romania in their last qualifying match, while Sweden were held to a 1-1 draw at home by neighbours Norway but remain second in the group and are still on course to make it to Euro 2020.

All of the stats point towards over 2.5 goals being scored and just one team scoring in Saturday’s qualifier and we’ve backed Sweden to claim a comfortable 3-0 victory.

Sweden have won all twelve of their previous matches against Malta and over 2.5 goals have been scored in five of the duos’ last six encounters. None of the last six meetings between these two countries have seen both teams score and Malta have only scored two goals against Sweden, one during a 2-1 defeat in 1973 and the other also in a 2-1 defeat back in 1985, so you can see why we’re backing a 3-0 win for Sweden this weekend.

The form of both countries during the last six qualifiers only adds weight to our prediction for Saturday’s clash, as Malta have lost their last five international matches and Sweden have won three of their last six. Malta have failed to score in each of their last five matches and Sweden have kept two clean sheets in their last four attempts, and we can’t see this weekends’ clash producing goals at both ends of the pitch either.

Sweden have scored over 2.5 team goals in three of their last five matches, while over 2.5 goals were produced in three of Malta’s and five of Sweden’s last six matches. Both teams scored in just one of Malta’s and one of Sweden’s last five internationals, adding even more reasoning to our prediction of over 2.5 goals and both teams to score – no and our prediction for a 3-0 final score in favour of Sweden.

We’re confident that Saturday’s clash won’t see both teams score but will produce over 2.5 goals and we have predicted a final scoreline of 3-0 in favour of the visitors. Sweden have a 100% record against Malta and that is expected to continue this weekend as their hosts are in poor form with five defeats from their last five internationals and have failed to score a single goal during that period.
