Manchester City vs Norwich Predictions

  • Manchester City have won seven of their last 13 home league games to nil.
  • Norwich have lost 11 Premier League games in a row, scoring just one goal in the process.
  • Manchester City have averaged 3.28 goals per game in their last 13 home Premier League games.

Worrying start for Premier League champions

Manchester City’s Premier League title defence didn’t get off to the best of starts last week as they lost at Tottenham and, following on from a Community Shield defeat to Leicester and their failure in the Champions League Final, it means Pep Guardiola’s side have lost three games in a row for the first time since April 2018.

However, with their squad getting closer to full strength and the quality of the opposition on Saturday, it would be a huge shock to see that run extended to four games and I expect a comfortable win to kickstart the Citizens’ campaign.

Canaries set for a tough season

Newly promoted Norwich endured another baptism of fire in their opener against Liverpool last week and with fixtures against Leicester and Arsenal coming up after this game it could get worse before it gets better for the Canaries.

Looking back to the 2019/20 season, their 3-0 defeat to Jurgen Klopp’s side made it 11 top-flight defeats in a row and they have scored just one goal over those games. This squad doesn’t look any better than the one relegated that season. so it could be a long and difficult season for Norwich fans.

Comfortable win expected for hosts

Manchester City may be in a bit of a slump right now but they have still won ten of their last 13 home league games. This is the perfect opportunity for them to rediscover their confidence and, with seven of those ten wins being to nil, backing Manchester City to win to nil appeals.

Norwich lost 3-0 t0 Newcastle in a pre-season friendly the week before their 3-0 defeat to Liverpool and with Manchester City averaging 3.28 goals per game in their last 13 home league matches that’s my pick for a correct score prediction.

Riyad Mahrez could be a good bet in the goalscorer market, too. The Algerian scored three goals in his final five competitive games last season and netted in two international friendlies in June. He’s well-rested after a quiet summer and could punish Norwich on Saturday.

Manchester City predicted lineup: Ederson; Cancelo, Stones, Dias, Zinchenko; Fernandinho, Rodri; Mahrez, Grealish, Sterling; Jesus

Norwich predicted lineup: Krul; Aarons, Hanley, Gibson, Giannoulis; Gilmour, Lees-Melou, Rupp; Cantwell, Rashica, Pukki

  • Norwich have lost 15 of their last 18 Premier League matches
  • Six of Manchester City’s last eight Premier League matches have gone over 2.5 goals
