      Manchester United vs Norwich Predictions

Manchester United finally looked like they might start to recover from Alex Ferguson’s departure, with an improvement in performances yielding good results and seeing them within touching distance of the top spot in the Premier League.

But that’s all gone to pot now, and they come into this game on the back of a five match winless streak in all competitions. This includes a 3-2 defeat by Wolfsburg to send them crashing out of the Champions League and an unlikely loss to Bournemouth last weekend.

This has seen Manchester United slip to 4th in the Premier League table, and they are already nine points adrift of league leaders Leicester and only three points clear of Spurs in 5th.

At least they’re doing better than Norwich though. The newly promoted side saw themselves drop into the relegation zone last weekend after relegation rivals Newcastle and Bournemouth both won.

Norwich managed a draw against Everton, but they have won only once in their last 11 games in all competitions and have lost seven times.

Some of Manchester United’s poor form can be traced back to considerable injury problems, and that continues this weekend. Chris Smalling, Matteo Darmian, Antonio Valencia, Luke Shaw, Ander Herrera, Wayne Rooney, and Marcos Rojo are all expected to miss out, along with the suspended Bastian Schweinsteiger.

Nine of Manchester United’s last 12 matches in all competitions have ended with fewer than three goals scored. They have only scored ten goals during this period and kept a clean sheet on seven occasions.

The home side have the best defensive record in the Premier League and have only conceded one goal at home this season.. This isn’t good news for a Norwich side who have only scored three in their last five matches.

I think Manchester United will get a desperately needed win on Saturday, but I’m certainly not expecting a goalfest. Odds of 9/4 for Manchester United to Win and Under 2.5 Goals look almost too good to be true, and I’m backing that along with a 1-0 correct score prediction at 5/1.
