Manchester United vs Partizan Belgrade Predictions
After a long overdue three match winning streak, Manchester United returned to ground that is becoming all too familiar for them this season when they lost 1-0 at Bournemouth on Saturday.
This came after victories in the Europa League, Premier League and League Cup inside the last two weeks, and once again saw their longstanding attacking problem rear its ugly head. The Red Devils failed to score yet again, meaning they have now netted just 18 goals in their 16 competitive games this season.
Despite this, their excellent defensive record leaves them at the top of the pile in Europa League Group L. They are one of just two teams yet to concede in the Europa League, although they have only found the net twice at the other end. One of these came in Serbia against Partizan Belgrade last time out, and we’re expecting a similar outcome on Thursday.
The visitors lie 3rd in Group L, but with just a single point separating them from AZ Alkmaar above they still have a great chance of qualifying for the latter stages of the competition. That being said, a result on Thursday would boost those chances enormously.
Unfortunately for Partizan, a result doesn’t look overly likely. Their only win in these group stages came against the pointless Astana on matchday two and they have lost four of their last seven competitive matches. Away from home they have suffered back to back defeats for the first time since April, so a trip to Old Trafford couldn’t be coming at a worse time for them.
What we are expecting on Thursday is yet another low scoring game. Manchester United have seen fewer than three goals in 12 of their 16 competitive games this season, including all three Europa League outings. In fact, with their Europa League matches averaging a measly 0.67 goals per game, backing Under 2.5 Goals looks a good route to take.
After two of these matches ended 1-0 to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men, we’re thinking the same for the correct score prediction. Manchester United have scored exactly one goal on eight occasions this season and are yet to concede in the Europa League, so a 1-0 scoreline looks promising.
