Mansfield Town vs Oldham Predictions

Stags set for more disappointment

Not for the first time, Mansfield have flattered to deceive this season and they make little appeal at odds-on hosting an Oldham side showing steady signs of progress.

The Stags were among the favourites for promotion at the start of the campaign but have won only twice from ten attempts and find themselves third from bottom.

Mansfield are currently on a winless run of eight matches and last weekend suffered a 1-0 defeat at home to Barrow – that was a second game on the spin in which they had failed to score.

Visitors Oldham are not faring much better and are one place and two points worse off than the Stags.

However, the Latics had lost six of their first seven games and have improved upon that form to collect four points from their last three fixtures.

Oldham followed up a goalless draw at home to Hartlepool with a 1-0 win at Rochdale, and last weekend were not disgraced in a 2-1 loss hosting second-placed Harrogate.

Oldham’s two wins this season have come on the road at Sutton and Rochdale and a repeat performance would see them cause Mansfield plenty of problems.

The Stags’ last eight games have featured five losses and three draws, so Oldham may be worth backing to avoid defeat at Field Mill.

Two of Mansfield’s last three fixtures finished level and we are predicting a 1-1 draw between these two struggling sides.
