Marseille vs Annecy Predictions

Hosts looking to bounce back

The hosts were dealt a heavy blow in Le Classique at the weekend when they lost 3-0 at home to league leaders PSG. It was just the second time this season that they have failed to hit the back of the net and they’ll be keen to use the cup match as an opportunity to bounce back and return to winning ways. Anything but a win will be seen as disappointing considering they welcome lower-league opposition. However, they don’t keep too many clean sheets on home soil and in Ligue 1 alone, they have conceded in 11 of their 13 games.

The visitors sit firmly in the middle of Ligue 2 and that looks likely to be where they finish given they’re 13 points adrift of the top two places. They’ve kept just four league clean sheets on the road this season which doesn’t bode well given the shift in the quality of opposition they’ll be facing. However, they have hit the back of the net in the majority of those matches and they may be good for a goal here with Marseille likely to make changes and their own inability to keep clean sheets.

Goals being scored at both ends looks possible

It’s not groundbreaking to say Marseille are likely to win here, however, they don’t defend well and this will be seen as a free hit for Annecy. With that in mind, we like the look of both teams hitting the back of the net.
