Hosts eager to clinch victory

Marseille come into this one off the back of a 1-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in Le Classique. They can consider themselves slightly unfortunate as they managed 18 shot attempts but now their focus must turn to Lens. The hosts lost to Ajaccio the last time they played here and they’ll be eager to put that right at the first time of asking, however, both teams have scored in six of Marseille’s eight home matches across all competitions and they’d better not underestimate Lens.

The only blemish on Lens unbeaten record is a loss to Lille in their last away match in Ligue 1. That is their only defeat since April and they followed that up with a win at home to Montpellier. Now they are on their travels again as they visit the Stade Vélodrome and given only four of the previous 15 Ligue 1 meetings have seen the home side clinch victory, it should be a close encounter.

Both teams firing a likely outcome

It’s hard to pick out a winner here but we do like the look of both sides finding the back of the net at some point in this match. Both outfits are more than capable of causing problems offensively speaking and that seems the safest angle to play.
