Marseille To Win To Nil

Reason for tip

Marseille lost back-to-back games before the international break but those defeats came against Lille and rivals Monaco, so they can expect to find things easier when hosting basement boys Metz. The visitors have failed to score in seven of their last nine matches and look set for another disappointing outing.

Marseille 3-0

Reason for tip

With Metz failing to find the net in five of their last six games, a Marseille clean sheet seems likely. It then becomes a question of how many can the hosts score and given they have netted 15 goals in their last seven home matches, three seems a probable tally for OM.

Marseille vs Metz Predictions

  • Marseille have won nine and lost only two of their 14 Ligue 1 home matches
  • Metz have picked up only five points from a possible 42 on the road
  • The visitors have failed to score in seven of their last nine away games

Beye’s boys can bounce back to winning ways

Habib Beye made a bright start as Marseille boss, winning three of his first five matches at the helm, but things have turned sour since, with a home defeat to Lille being followed by a derby-day loss at Monaco.

The Senegalese tactician will be eager to get the fans back on board and, luckily for him, he will get a golden opportunity to do so on Friday as his side welcome basement boys Metz to the Stade Velodrome.

Ligue 1’s bottom club look destined for relegation and are now a huge 12 points off guaranteed safety, with things unlikely to get any better this weekend.

Goal-shy Metz heading for a familiar outcome

Marseille may have gone into the international break in poor form but their home defeat to Lille was a big shock given they had lost only one of their 13 Ligue 1 matches at the Stade Velodrome prior to that.

That run includes nine wins and it should be plain-sailing against a woeful Metz side.

Friday’s visitors have failed to score in five of their last six matches, including each of the last two, and it is hard to see them laying a glove on a talented OM.
