      Tip Reasoning

Melbourne City are still reeling from their cross city derby defeat against Melbourne City last weekend. They battled back from two goals down and looked to be heading towards a hard fought point, but Melbourne Victory star man Besart Berisha fired home in the 90th minute to win the game for last season’s champions.

This will have been a hard pill to swallow for Melbourne City, and it didn’t get any better in mid week when they were eliminated from the Australian FFA Cup by Perth Glory.

Their opening weekend draw against Sydney FC makes it one point from their opening two league games.

They finished last season slap bang in the middle of the table, and they have made a large number of squad additions to try and boost that position this season.

No less than nine players have made the move to Melbourne City this transfer window, including former Premier League goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen.

Considering Central Coast Mariners’ disappointing 8th place finish in last season’s A-League, they haven’t made many improvements during the off season.

They have signed five players in total, and come into the season without any marquee players in their team.

This didn’t seem to effect them too much in their A-League opener as Fabio Ferreira netted two penalties in a 3-2 win over Perth Glory.

They followed this up with a 2-1 loss to Brisbane Roar though, keeping their points tally on three after two games.

Central Coast Mariners have only lost once against Melbourne City in their history, and that was all the way back in 2012. Since then they have won six of their nine matches against the visitors, which is bound to be a confidence boost coming into this game.

This makes odds of 6/5 for a Central Coast Mariners Win or Draw Double Chance look like really good value for money, and that’s what my money is going on.
