Hosts fighting for their lives

We’re approaching the final run-in of the Ligue 1 campaign and Metz now have just nine games to get themselves out of the relegation zone. It won’t be an easy task considering they currently sit five points adrift of safety and whilst five of their remaining nine fixtures will be on home soil, that isn’t necessarily a good thing. The hosts have had a miserable time of it when playing at the Stade Municipal Saint-Symphorien. They’ve secured just one win there all season and only nine of their 23 points have been secured at home this campaign.

Things haven’t gone too well for Monaco since the appointment of boss Philippe Clement, they’ve struggled for consistency and this has cost them, being knocked out of both the Coupe de France as well as the Europa League. The only thing they really have left to play for is a European qualification spot, although they currently lie four points adrift of a place in the top five.

Monaco to edge close encounter

Neither of these two sides can look back on this season and be happy with how things have gone. All they can do is try to make sure they finish it strongly and re-group. However, things have gone a lot worse for Metz. Only bottom side Bordeaux have conceded more and they are woeful when playing at home. We think Monaco can snatch a win here and make a dire situation much worse for hosts Metz.
