Back against two struggling defences

Monaco have scored at least twice in ten of their last 12 Ligue 1 games and both teams had scored by the break the last time these two met in September. The best bet is both teams to score when Metz host Monaco at Stade Saint-Symphorien on Saturday.

Metz, bottom of the Ligue 1 table with just three wins so far, are 11 places and 35 points behind Monaco, who sit seventh with 15 victories.

Metz are struggling to find a win, having gone 19 Ligue 1 games without recording a victory, and Monaco have returned home winners on six of their last seven visits to Metz.

They will be looking to bounce back after their last Ligue 1 result, a 4-4 draw with Le Havre in which Gauthier Hein fired two goals. This was a decent point for Metz, who had been 19/5 outsiders to win the game.

Both teams have been struggling defensively of late. Metz have failed to keep a clean sheet in eight of their last ten league games, while Monaco are on a run of five away days without recording a shutout. With Metz conceding an average of 2.26 goals per game and Monaco 1.52, there should be goals in this one.

Both teams have found the net in Metz’s last three Ligue 1 matches and Monaco’s last five. No team has played more games in the competition this season in which both sides have scored than Monaco, who have seen goals at both ends in 20 of their 31 matches.

Monaco can secure a comfortable win here and a 3-1 scoreline appeals for correct-score bettors. Metz have been poor at home, where they have won two, drawn four and lost nine, while Monaco have won five of their 15 away games. Monaco have defeated Metz by two or more goals in the last two head-to-heads between the sides, and Metz have been beaten by two or more in two of their last three Ligue 1 games.
