Jamaica Double Chance (Win or Draw)

Reason for tip

Mexico have sent an understrength squad to Copa America and could be vulnerable to an upset against a Jamiaca side that has avoided defeat in four of their last seven games against El Tri. With talented attackers like Demarai Gray, Michail Antonio and Bobby Decordova-Reid set to feature, the Reggae Boyz could avoid defeat in this group opener.

Draw 2-2

Reason for tip

Two of the last three meetings between the nations have been score draws with a repeat of the 2-2 at the Azteca Stadium in 2022 a possibility. Jamaica have more talent in attack than defence and scoring multiple goals is probably their best route to getting a point.

Mexico vs Jamaica Predictions

  • Jamaica have a talented set of forwards with Demarai Gray, Michail Antonio and Bobbt Decordova-Reid set to feature
  • Mexico have sent an understrength squad to Copa America and coach Jaime Lozano is under pressure
  • Jamiaca have avoided defeat in four of their last seven games against Mexico

Mexico are ripe for an upset

Mexico could be ripe for an upset from a Jamaican squad with plenty of talent in forward areas when the two sides meet in the Copa America on Saturday night.

El Tri are without several big-name players for the tournament and head coach Jaime Lozano is under pressure after enduring a difficult sequence of results.

Mexico lost 2-0 to their cross-border rivals the United States in the final of the Concacaf Nations League earlier this year and the critics were out in force after a recent 4-0 friendly thrashing at the hands of Uruguay.

Reggae Boyz have talent up top

Lozano’s side also lost 3-2 to Brazil on the eve of the tournament and, although that was not a disastrous result, it did not build any confidence for the main event. Jamaica, who finished third in the Concacaf Nations League, fared better against the US in that competition and only lost after extra time.

They have given Mexico plenty of problems when the two nations have met recently, drawing 1-1 in Kingston and 2-2 at the Azteca back in 2022.

They will have enough attacking talent to make a splash in Group B with ex-Leicester and Everton star Demarai Gray leading the line with Michail Antonio and Fulham’s Bobby Decordova-Reid pulling the strings from deep. They can avoid defeat in this Copa America opener with a 2-2 draw a distinct possibility given the nature of recent contests between these teams.
