      Mexico vs Panama Predictions

Panama were left fuming when numerous refereeing decisions went against them when the sides last met in the Semi-Finals of the CONCACAF Gold Cup in July. Mexico went on to win the match 2-1 in extra time while Panama made no secret of the fact they felt they had been cheated out of a final appearance.

Mexico who had been desperately poor in a few games in the tournament beat Jamaica in the final and have played well in the games they’ve had so far this season although all their matches have been high-scoring affairs.

They drew 3-3 with Trinidad & Tobago, only a couple of months after a 4-4 draw between the sides and backed that up with a 2-2 draw against Argentina just days later when they were leading 2-0 with only 5 minutes to go.

On Saturday they were involved in another thriller as they beat USA 3-2 after extra time to seal a place at the Confederations Cup in 2017. Ricardo Ferretti is highly likely to shuffle his pack here, but the attacking philosophy is not likely to change.

Panama will be pretty fired up for this too given what happened in the summer but they’ve not won since the Gold Cup and have suffered defeats against Uruguay and Trinidad & Tobago.

Both teams have scored in 8 of Panama’s last 9 matches and it seems likely that run will continue here against Mexico, who have scored and conceded in all of their last 5 fixtures too. You can back both teams to be on target in this game at odds of Evens and it seems like a good bet, especially given Mexico’s defensive problems.

Unlike many friendlies in this part of the world, this won’t be played in the United States but at altitude in the Mexican city of Toluca de Lerdo. That should grant the hosts an advantage and even a much changed Mexico side should be too strong for Panama and they proved their strength in depth with a creditable showing by a virtual reserve side at Copa America.

With their defence not looking great whoever plays, an away goal is likely but Mexico should have enough to claim a 2-1 win and you can back that to be the case at odds of 7/1.
