Back the Boro to cause an upset at massive odds

Michael Carrick’s Middlesbrough are rightful outsiders for this encounter with a solid Premier League side, Brighton & Hove Albion, yet their improvement in form under the new manager simply cannot be ignored.

Boro have won six of their last seven games in the Championship despite failing to keep a clean sheet in all but one of those matches. On the other hand, Brighton have alternated between wins and losses across the last five Premier League games and with 13 goals scored during that run, they’ll almost certainly play their part in what could be a cracking encounter.

Granted, Brighton have lost just one of their nine FA Cup clashes against lower-tier opponents since they were promoted themselves. However with Boro claiming big scalps such as Manchester United and Spurs on the way to a quarter final last season, Carrick’s men could be in with a shout.
