Milan vs Bologna Predictions
Are AC Milan back? Can they join the fray for the battle for European places, or perhaps even better? A run of four games unbeaten including a 4-2 win over Frosinone and a 4-1 victory over Sampdoria have left that possibility open as Serie A returns from its winter break.
Milan are currently sixth in the Serie A table, eight points behind their bitter rivals, who are top, and well in competition with the top five, which includes Inter, Fiorentina, Napoli, Juventus and Roma. With games coming up against Fiorentina and Roma, Milan will desperately need to build some momentum by picking up three points at home against relegation battlers Bologna.
Bologna didn’t have a bad stretch heading into the break either. They’ve won two of their last three games and have picked up points in four of their last six contests. This is a scrappy battling team and they proved it on December 8 when they shocked Napoli by beating them 3-2. It was a back and forth game that should have benefitted Napoli in theory, but Bologna just kept battling back.
Three Reasons for Betting Tip
1. Milan keep up good run
It’s easy to look at the 0-0 and 1-1 draws with relegation probables Carpi and Verona, but sandwiched around that pair of disappointing results, they’ve really found some pretty strong rhythm. In their last two games, they beat Sampdoria 2-0 and Frosinone 4-2, both away from home.
2. Bologna won’t be able to counter
Bologna’s most successful style is sitting back and countering. AC Milan aren’t an elite defensive team by any stretch of the imagination, but they don’t expose themselves when they attack in a way that’ll allow AC Milan to counter attack easily and that will thwart Bologna’s goal-scoring.
3. Counting on a two-goal game
Milan haven’t been completely reliable in terms of scoring goals, but when they do score goals, they’ve come in bunches.
