Mirandes vs Deportivo La Coruna Predictions

Shocks are often few and far between in the two-legged Copa del Rey but Mirandes have a real taste for the competition. They knocked out 3 top flight sides on the way to the Semi Finals in 2012 and won both legs of their last 32 clash with Primera Division Malaga in this year’s last 32 to set up this tie.

They come into the game in 7th place in the Segunda Division and in good form having won 2-1 away to 2nd place Cordoba at the weekend. The Estadio Municipal de Anduva will be rocking for the visit of Deportivo La Coruna and they have every chance of causing an upset.

Like most top flight sides, Deportivo are likely to make many changes for this game and they were only narrow 3-2 aggregate winners against lower league Llagostera in the last round. They have only won 1 of their last 6 matches in all competitions and a 2-1 defeat at home to Villarreal at the weekend suggests that perhaps their early season bubble is beginning to burst although it was only their 3rd defeat of the season.

A strong La Liga campaign will remain their priority and this could be a really tricky tie and a weakened Depor side may struggle to get anything out of the 1st leg given Mirandes’ track record in the Copa del Rey and the hosts are good value at 5/6 in the ‘draw no bet’ market.

They aren’t likely to have enough to run away with it though and it could take a similar pattern to their 2-1 home win over Malaga in the 1st leg of the last round. At 9/1 you can back there to be a repeat scoreline, which would set things up nicely for the 2nd leg in Galicia.
