      MK Dons vs Preston Predictions

This is one of the most interesting games of the weekend in the Championship with two sides keen to prove they can cut it at this level. Both made encouraging starts with MK Dons cruising to a 4-1 win on the opening day at Rotherham while Preston held last year’s beaten play-off finalists Middlesbrough to a goalless draw.

The Dons racked up 101 league goals last season to secure 2nd place in League 1 and automatic promotion. Preston finished just 2 points behind them and were the outstanding side in the play-offs and there can be little argument that the three best sides in the division got promoted and they are all being tipped to do quite well.

With just 2 points separating them in the final League One standings it’s fair to say they are fairly evenly matched but it is Preston who tend to have the better things whenever the clubs have met.

The two sides drew 1-1 at Deepdale early on last season but Preston won 2-0 when they visited Milton Keynes in March. Indeed the Lancashire club are unbeaten at Stadium mk, winning twice and drawing twice during their 4 seasons in League 1. That fact may not be insignificant as these are two fairly settled sides by the standards of the football league and Karl Robinson has been in charge of Milton Keynes for all 4 of those home games and has yet to conjour up a victory.

Both sides won in mid-week in the Capital One Cup although MK Dons were within minutes of going out before scoring twice in injury time to dramatically overturn a 1-0 deficit into a 2-1 victory over Leyton Orient in injury time. Preston won comfortably 3-1 at Crewe and will also take a great deal of confidence into this game.

Preston have never lost to Milton Keynes Dons with sides meeting 8 times over the past 4 seasons and they certainly seem to enjoy their games against Karl Robinson’s side. MK Dons will be on a high from their opening day victory which left them topping to the very early Championship table but could be brought back down to earth here by their bogey side.

Backing Preston to do what they have never failed to do against MK Dons and get a result at 8/11 looks like good value and tipping them to win 2-0 for sizable returns at 16/1 could also be well worth a flutter.
