      MK Dons vs Sunderland Predictions

      • Sunderland’s League 1’s fourth-best team in terms of recent form. They’ve won three and drawn three of their last six.
      • MK Dons and Sunderland both rank inside the bottom ten when it comes to shots on target for this season.
      • Both teams have scored in just 38% of MK Dons’ home matches during the current campaign.
      • Less than three goals have been scored in 64% of Sunderland’s recent away matches.

      Hosts in form at home

Losing to Burton on Tuesday evening was disappointing, especially as it marked the end of MK Dons’ unbeaten run. Despite that defeat, MK Dons have done well of late. They’ve stopped losing at every turn and have improved offensively, even if their last two attacking efforts haven’t been too sharp.

Where Saturday’s hosts have made marked improvement of late is at home. Having previously gone six games without a home win, Russell Martin’s men have won each of their last three at Stadium MK, conceding just one goal in the process. Such defensive efforts bode well ahead of a match against a Sunderland side that has scored few travelling goals this term.

      Sunderland on the up

MK Dons’ are not the only ones who’ve improved of late as the Black Cats are also experiencing something of a revival. Phil Parkinson’s men have won each of their last two, while they are now unbeaten in six.

During their recent upturn, Sunderland haven’t always thrived offensively, but they’ve done a good job of restricting teams, conceding no more than a single goal in any of their last six League 1 matches. They’ve conceded just three goals in their last five.

Scoring goals away from home has been a bit of an issue for the Black Cats, who’ve scored in just two of their last five away from home, but again, they’ve rarely allowed teams to run riot, conceding more than once on just two occasions and in none of their last five travelling matches.

      Lack of goals forecast

Both teams have improved of late, but that doesn’t mean that the goals will flow at Stadium mk. Punters can profit from this fixture by siding with ‘Under 2.5 Goals’, which has yielded a profit in 64% of Sunderland’s away matches this term. MK Dons have started to score more goals at home but they’re now up against a Sunderland side that has performed with an air of defensive strength in recent times. In addition, the visitors have also done a good job of restricting teams away from home, conceding an average of just 2.8 shots on target in their last five on the road. Add in that Sunderland haven’t been prolific scorers on the road, combined with the fact that neither team ranks well in terms of shots on target for, and a low-scoring game appeals.

‘Correct Score’ players can try a 0-1 win for the visitors. MK Dons last couple of attacking efforts have been weak, scoring one in two, while Sunderland are starting to look like the sturdy side that they previously were. The visitors may not have kept a clean sheet on the road this term, but they’ve rarely conceded more than one, while their recent efforts against Fleetwood and Doncaster point towards them holding off lesser opposition.
