Monaco 3-1

Reason for tip

Montpellier have conceded three or more goals in three of their last four games while Monaco have scored exactly three times in two of their last three. Monaco have conceded exactly once in their last three home games so a 3-1 home win looks good here.

Monaco vs Montpellier Predictions

  • Monaco have won three of their four home games this season with at least three goals in each of the last two
  • Montpellier have lost both of their away matches this term, 6-0 and 3-0
  • Eliesse Ben Seghir has scored two goals in his last four Ligue 1 appearances and is significantly outperforming expectations

Monaco can maintain their push for the top

Monaco can maintain their challenge for the Ligue 1 leadership with a routine win over Montpellier at Stade Louis II on Saturday evening. Adi Hutter’s side are in great form with five wins in their last six matches in all competitions.

They overcame Le Havre 3-1 last Sunday with Falorin Balogun finally breaking his long scoring drought for the club. The ex-Arsenal and Reims hitman had not scored for Monaco since March.

Winger Eliesse Ben Seghir also notched with a lovely curling effort from outside the box. The youngster has scored two league goals in his last four appearances and is outperforming his expected goals by around double.

La Paillade have been leaking goals

He should find opportunities to score against the team with the joint-worst defensive record in Ligue 1. Only Saint-Etienne, who shipped eight at Nice last weekend, have conceded as many goals as La Paillade.

They secured their first win of the season at home to Auxerre last weekend, coming from behind to win 3-2 amid some pretty ordinary defending. Striker Akor Adams is in decent form and looks to be their best hope of getting any joy in Moncao, but they will probably lose badly.

Montpellier were thrashed 6-0 away at Paris Saint-Germain in August and lost 3-0 at Rennes earlier this month so Monaco, who have looked just as good or better than those two teamsin the early going, should record a comfortable win with a few goals.
