Montreal Impact vs Houston Dynamo Predictions
Montreal Impact are having a dreadful time of things at the moment. They came into this season hoping for a better showing than last year after they slumped to a 9th place finish in the MLS Eastern Conference, but back to back defeats in the opening two games brought a swift end to any optimistic thoughts.
They did recover well from this early setback as they beat both of the MLS Cup 2017 finalists 1-0, but since then it’s all been downhill. Impact have lost eight of their last nine games in the MLS and sit second from bottom of the table. They are level on points with a DC United side who not only have three games in hand, but have also played all but two of their games this season away from home.
Unfortunately for the fans in Montreal, things don’t look like they’ll be changing anytime soon. Their 2-0 defeat at Minnesota United made it four losses on the trot, and they have shipped a MLS high 29 goals in their 13 games so far. Add that to the fact that they are also the joint lowest scorers in the entire MLS and things start to look even bleaker for them.
Houston Dynamo will be hoping to take advantage of this record low level of confidence. The visitors lost 2-1 at Real Salt Lake in midweek, but prior to that they were unbeaten in four games and had won three of them. This puts them 6th in the MLS Western Conference and with games in hand on many of the teams around them, so they can be fairly happy with how the year has panned out so far.
Dynamo were known somewhat for their defensive stability last season, but this year they’ve flipped things around. They have netted 27 league goals, which is more than any other side in the Western Conference and level with the high-flying Atlanta United in the Eastern Conference and they now come face to face with a Montreal Impact side who have shipped ten goals in their last four home matches.
The hosts have conceded two or more in three of their last four at home, and with Dynamo netting two or more goals in four of their six away games we like the look of Houston Dynamo Over 1.5 Team Goals. The visitors have only won one of these away games though, so we’re also opting for a 2-2 correct score predictions.
Alberth Elis has been the standout player for Dynamo this year. The 22 year old Honduran has scored seven league goals this season and has bagged in four of their six trips away, so we fancy him for our anytime goalscorer predictions.
Montreal Impact Predicted Lineup: Bush, Duvall, Fanni, Raitala, Lovitz, Piette, Krolicki, Taider, Silva, Edwards, Piatti
Houston Dynamo Predicted Lineup: Willis, Machado, Castillo, da Silva, Beasley, Alexander, Ramirez, Elis, Martinez, Manotas
